Do you offer dial-up access?
Buzin.net does not offer dial-up services. All our bandwidth is reserved for web hosting.
-
What operating system do you use?
We use a Custom version of the Red Hat Linux Operating System.
-
What is the speed of your internet connection?
Buzin.net's Network is based on a OC-12 network backbone. Our connection is provided through Savvis, recently selected as one of the Internet's best backbones by Boardwatch Magazine.
-
Do your servers offer secure connections?
Yes, they do. All our servers are equiped to handle SSL transactions. For more information about securing your website, contact Sales.
-
How is my web space calculated?
Web space is calculated according to how much space your files in any HTTP or FTP directories occupy. Log files, CGI files and Email are included in this total.
-
How is my FTP set up?
Every account receives a private FTP directory with the form of /home/sites/www.domainname.com/users/USERNAME. Your home directory when you ftp will be /web. As the home directory, you will have full rights to do whatever is needed within this directory including create and delete sub-directories.
We also provide an anonymous FTP directory for clients to allow file downloads. This directory is located as a sub-directory off the root FTP directory of /ftp.
-
Can I Use telnet to administer my account?
If you have personally requested a telnet/shell account, we will provide a shell account for you.
-
Do my email accounts come with redirection and alias capabilities?
Yes. Each mail account can be redirected to multiple email addresses and can also have multiple aliases.
-
Do you do backups and, if so, what do I need to do to have files restored?
Yes, we do daily incremental backups and weekly full backups. If you need any files restored (either several or all), we will charge a $25 restoration fee.
-
When should I upgrade to a dedicated server?
Buzin.net's shared servers are meant for sites with traffic below 50,000+ hits per day. We keep our servers lightly loaded so they can respond to a particular website on a shared server suddenly receiving a large spike in traffic. However, at a certain point, the server responsiveness for the heavily trafficed site, as well as all the other sites on the server, will begin to slow. Buzin.net monitors its servers very closely and will alert a user as to when they might consider moving to a dedicated server.
Beyond a certain point, Buzin.net may determine that a heavily trafficed site is seriously hampering the speed of other sites on the same server. At that time, Buzin.net will request that the client move to a dedicated server or stop using Buzin.net's services all together.
-
Does Buzin.net allow spamming by its clients?
Absolutely not. Spamming is defined as either unsolicited bulk email or unsolicited commercial postings to usenet newsgroups that prohibit such postings. We will look into spamming on a case by case basis. A first offense that is relatively minor will result in a warning. However, if there are multiple offenses or the offense was large in its magnitude, Buzin.net suspended the account immediately. Because this is a violation of the service agreement, the client will NOT be entitled to a refund of their balance.
